On the winter days where the sun is shining the colors are so intense. This is a scene near my home. I started painting winter in plein air this year and started with a few plein air sketches then completed my paintings inside.
Focusing more on the warmth of the sun than the coolness of the air my winter scenes began. I have painted four in this series with an emphasis on the quiet atmosphere with a simple composition. The long shadows drew my attention to this scene as well as the warm sun between the trees.
